UNDERISK

The UNDERISK research group (GI-1416) is composed of researchers from the areas of Personality, Evaluation and Psychological Treatment and Evolutionary Psychology and Education, both based at the Faculty of Psychology of the University of Santiago de Compostela. The UNDERISK group proceeds from the GI-1416 (Research Unit on Prevention and Treatment of Behavioural Problems) to which the GI-1421 (Language Acquisition and Developmental Disorders) merged in 2017 and in 2020 the GI -1424 (Psychological Development and Education),   which converge in approaches, interests and research methods. The interest in child and adolescent development, as well as the study of risk and protective factors that influence in different evolutionary periods, constitutes the main objective of UNDERISK. All this under a longitudinal approach that represents the methodology of the group through the use of different evaluation techniques. The coordination of efforts between the researchers of the two areas allows the joint study of normal and pathological development, according to the current perspective of developmental psychopathology.

The aid granted for the Consolidation and Structuring of Competitive Research Units, financed by the Ministry of Education, University and Vocational Training and the Ministry of Economy, Employment and Industry of the Xunta de Galicia, consolidated the base of the UNDERISK group and its common objectives. The aid is aimed at consolidating the competitive reference groups in the period between 2019 and 2022.
