UNDERISK develops the survey CONFIA-20 (Efectos do confinamento na familia e na infancia, Effects of confinement on family and infancy)
In this Spring 2020, we are under circumstances without precedents in our times, due to the health and social crisis originated by the late spread of COVID-19. In a short period of time, we had to make important adaptations to quick changes, affecting not only our social dynamics, but also our personal, public and private spaces. In the last weeks, we witnessed how these circumstances disturbed the life and routines of all of us, including our children.
From the UNDERISK group, in our endeavor of understanding and helping solve problems in our social environment, we are interested in delineating the specific challenges that families must face in the current crisis, as well as the coping resources being displayed, and the consequences derived from this situation. Our aim is to contribute to a better understanding of the effects of the current crisis, a global challenge that unites and involves all of us, now and presumably in the nearest future.
To this purpose, we developed the CONFIA-20 survey (Efectos do confinamento na familia e na infancia; Effects of confinement on family and childhood). This questionnaire was designed for families with children from 4 to 11 years old, and it can be filled in about 15 minutes through an online platform (https://underisk.gal/t/confia20/gal).
Examining the way that children and their families are experiencing this situation, is crucial to precisely define and better understand its short-term and long-term impact. The final objective is to develop scientific and empirically-based guidelines for intervention in this or similar situations that may occur in the future.
