On Friday, March 6, the first training session for ESO teachers for the implementation of the Building Health program was held in Vilagarcía de Arousa. The activity was organized by the City hall within the framework of the actions financed by the grant granted by the Department of Health of the Xunta de Galicia for the development of projects for the prevention of addictive behaviors promoted by local entities.
The session, which took place in the Municipal Auditorium of Vilagarcía de Arousa in the afternoon, was given by Xosé Antón Gómez Fraguela, professor at USC, researcher of the UNDERISK group and co-author of the program Building Health. The training also had the support of Tamara Castro Nodar, prevention expert of the Town. During the session, a conceptual introduction was made on the problems of behavior in adolescence, the role of the school in the development of preventive initiatives and a detailed description of the Building Health program, with special emphasis on the role that teachers must assume for its proper implementation.
Teachers from the IES Armando Cotarelo Valledor and O Carril participated, centers in which, throughout the third quarter, the program will be developed in the 1st grade classrooms of ESO.
