On November 13, 2025, the Department of Health of the Xunta de Galicia approved the regulatory framework for granting subvention, under a competitive process, to co-finance projects aimed at preventing addictive behaviors promoted by municipalities, associations of municipalities, or groups of municipalities within the Autonomous Community of Galicia.
The framework establishes that the programs Construyendo Salud (“Building Health”) and EmPeCemos (“Let’s Start”) will receive special consideration among the complementary initiatives that local entities may implement. At UNDERISK, we are very proud that these two programs—developed and evaluated by our research group, with significant effort and dedication—have been recognized in this way.
The Construyendo Salud program is designed for the early years of secondary education (ESO) and focuses specifically on preventing drug use and other behavioral problems that often arise at the beginning of adolescence. The EmPeCemos program targets the early years of primary education. Its school component emphasizes the development of students’ socio-emotional skills, while its family component is aimed at supporting families who face difficulties in managing their children’s behavior.
From the UNDERISK research group, we remain available to all entities and municipalities interested in implementing these programs. We are committed to collaborating in the training and advisory processes necessary to facilitate their rollout, promote life skills among children and adolescents, and prevent the onset of drug use or other behavioral problems during childhood and adolescence.
